Dispersive Traveling Waves

In addition to frequency-dependent attenuation, LTI filters can provide a frequency-dependent delay. This can be used to simulate dispersive wave propagation. When there is dispersion but no attenuation, the filter takes the form of an allpass filter [460]. In musical acoustics, the piano string is significantly dispersive (§5.2,§H.6).
