The modulated lapped transform (MLT) [145] uses the sine window, defined by

$\displaystyle w(n) = \sin\left[\left(n+\frac{1}{2}\right)\frac{\pi}{2M}\right], \quad n=0,1,2,\ldots,2M-1\,.$

The sine window is used in MPEG-1, Layer 3 (MP3 format), MPEG-2 AAC, and MPEG-4 [184].
