encoder interface unit - Hany Ferdinando - Oct 21 8:30:00 2003

Hi all,

I used 2199x Encoder Interface Unit to estimate the velocity of motor shaft. My
idea is I generate 1ms interval of interrupt (using EIU loop timer) and read
the counter value then reset it. I got strange result when I tried to calibrate
the value. According to the manual, the value read from the register is 4 times
the value from the encoder.

Anyone has an idea about this phenomena?

regards,
Hany

What they are saying, I think, is that the EIU counts the rising and falling edges of the Phase A and B signals.  If you have a 128 cycle encoder you will actually read 512 counts per revolution.
