Problem in booting from flash....... - mall...@yahoo.co.in - Feb 22 7:30:43 2008

Hi!

I have a custom board with bf532 and M29W160EB Flash memory........I want to boot from flash in
16-bit mode....I have successfully loaded the loader file into the flash...But booting is not
started....I want to debug it...
Iam not having much experiance in this.....I just want help in debugging...and how to debug
it..
I have one more doubt....
I have seen in the datasheet
"
The boot kernel assumes these conditions for the Flash Boot mode
(BMODE = 01):
• Asynchronous Memory Bank (AMB) 0 enabled
• 16-bit packing for AMB 0 enabled
• Bank 0 RDY is set to active high
• Bank 0 hold time (read/write deasserted to AOE deasserted) =
3 cycles
• Bank 0 read/write access times = 15 cycles"

These conditions we have to give explicitly or boot kernel automatically configures it....
thank u....

Hello Malli

I need more information, then I can help you in batter way.

1. You are using the boot loader provided by analog Device in example code

or you have developed your won boot loader code.

2. Can you please share the address of Flash memory where you have downloaded the boot
loader and Your application Image (i.e. LDR)

3. Are you using any external memory like SDRAM in your custom board?

4. If you are using the SDRAM, then have you give the INIT file while creating the LDR
Image.

5. Have you developed any checksum mechanism to verify your application image (LDR).

For debugging best way to used LED at different stage in the source code,

But I think the problem is in creating the LDR file or in the boot loader code.

Please share all the information…!
