Technical discussions related to Analog Devices DSPs (including Blackfin, TigerSHARC, SHARC and ADSP-21xx DSPs).
It seems that Digikey is going to stop selling ADSP-21065 development kit ADDS-21065L-EZLITE. When I check the availability of this item this legend is shown: "Part will become a non-stocking item when stock is depleted; minimums will apply" It sounds like that kit is not being manufactured. Does any of know if ADSP-21065L is near the EOL? Regards Jose______________________________

I doubt very much that the ADSP-21065L is EOL. ADI has been very good at keeping older parts in their line. You can still buy the ADSP-2101. This was an old part when I first started using ADI DSPs in 1991. The 21065L is not a good choice for new design. EZ-Kits are usually aimed at new applications, so it would not surprise me to see DigiKey or ADI drop the kit. I suggest that you consider the ADSP-21371 (or possibly 21375 if cost driven). These parts are substantially better parts and available for about the same cost. The lowest cost SHARC is the ADSP-21261. It is also much better in most respects to the 21065L. If you are concerned with fabrication issues, especially BGA, you may want to check out our dspblok and dspstak boards. Our most popular boards for new design are ADSP-21369 based.
