Defining port in ADSP-218x - Atanu Guchhait - Feb 8 13:03:00 2002

hi,
I have a problem of defining .PORT(Release 6.1 Directive) in ADSP-218x. In
VisualDSP++ 2.0 assembler, .PORT assembler directive has been removed and
commented like this:
"Removed. You can declare an I/O port using the .VAR and .GLOBAL directive, then
create the corresponding section in the linker description file." (See page 2-45
of VisualDSP++ 2.0 Assembler and Processor Manual for ADSP-218x DSPs").
It will be very helpful if any body explain this with one example.
Regards
Atanu
