How to measure SNR in an music file? - bhas...@soctronics.com - Feb 23 10:29:58 2010

Hi everybody,

I need a method or tool to measure the quality of an audio
signal after doing some processing (interpolation,...etc).

First of all how to find which is noise in a music file(through some method)?
What are the parameters which represents the quality of the audio signal(I mean
20KHz bandwidth)? How to measure them?

                Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi Mc,
you are right, PEAQ test is correct in case of Codecs , to
measure the loss. I am sorry to confuse you in asking question in
different way.
The question is here, if it is a sample rate converter(not a codec), my
input file is at 44.1kHz sampling rate and output file is at different
(above or below) rate. So where can I find same original source file at
output rate. That is the problem in testing an SRC.
Is there any measure to test the quality of interpolation and decimation
of a file, other than single and multi tones (I did them), i.e., for
music files.

Thanks for you reply.

Thanks & Regards
Bhaskar N
