Real time audio timing considerations - sanj...@virgin.net - Nov 28 8:23:53 2006

Dear all,

I wonder if anyone knows what is the noticable time delay for humans in a real time audio
system ? I'm trying to develop an audio time stretching system in real time, and therefore need
to know how much 'time' there is to crunch the data, without the user noticing a gap in the
playback. For example, if we sample at 44.1Khz, and require a frame of 1000 samples for the
analysis (23ms), then the number crunching takes place (not sure about the total time taken),
finally the processed frame is sent to the DAC.

Regards,

Sanjeev.
