XDS510PP_PLUS with Code COmposer on Windows XP Pro - kk7p - Feb 19 7:44:00 2005

Hi!

I purchased the latest version (4.10.36) of CCS for the TMS320VC33.
It runs in simulator mode just fine. I also purchased an
XDS510PP_PLUS and instazlled the latest drivers from the SXPectrum
Digital website.

When I try to configure CCS to accept the XDS510PP_PLUS, the
configruaiton utility seems happy. But when I then fire up CCS< I get
an edrror message that the driver is not supported and CCS refuses to
boot. If I return it to simulator mode, it is just fine.

I queried TI about this and their response is that CCS for the 'C3x is
unsupported under Windows XP. I also queried Spectrum Digianl, but
nothing heard as of yet.

I see from other posts on this group that some of you apparently have
this combination installed and working under XP.

My test setup is the XDS510PP_PLUS and a University DSK VC33. I have
the parallel cable unconencted to the DSK so I can use it for the XDS.
WHen I run the SDCOnfig utliity, it recognizes the XDS and also
reports that it finds one device on the scan chain, so I am reasonably
certain that the XDS is functional.

All of this on a Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop (2 GHz P4) with 768MB RAM,
Windows XP Pro SP2, Norton AV and Firewall.

Thank you for any insight or advice on how I might get this to function.

Lyle,

You may want to give Spectrum Digital a call. I vaguely remember having to install some kind of patch to CC which the SD guys had to get their device to work happily with the 'VC33.

Good luck,

Hi Lyle, Bill

You can download that patch from the CC tool link here.
http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/codecomposer.html

The bottom line is that SD has been doing tools and software for TI for some time.

Best regards
Keith Larson

but assumed incorrectly that if I purchased the tools new
in 2004, the 2001 patch would have already been applied!
Silly me!

CCS now locates the XDS510PP_PLUS.

Thank you for the help!

Lyle
