Need compiler for TMS320C4x - Edward Jubenville - Apr 20 8:30:19 2006

I need to do some code development for an obsolete Spectrum Dakar DSP board
that has a TMS320C44 processor and add-on TMS320C40 processors. I can't
find the compiler anywhere. I believe Texas Instruments used to offer it
"free" under the part number TMDS3200031. It supposedly works for the C3x
and C4x processors. I searched the TI site, to no avail. I also searched
this mailing list archive and found some relevant links for downloading it,
but those links are dead. Does anyone know where I can get it?

Hello Ed,

If you check the next link:

http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/codecomposer.html

You can see it, the option for the C3X/4X family and other, but the C
compiler it isn´t free.

Regards.

Re: Need compiler for TMS320C4x - Keith Larson - Apr 21 8:41:20 2006

Hi Ed

This is because the the number 'TMDS3200031' is for the TMS320C31 DSK
which has been superceded by the TMS320VC33 DSK. Keep in mind that
though the software for the VC33 DSK includes the complete and
unhindered compiler tool suite, the intention was for DSK and not
commercial use. Here is the link.

Try downloading the large ZIP file for the "University DSK" which
includes the C3x/C4x C Compiler.
