Clock Speed Problem? - Roy Closa - Nov 6 2:26:00 2002

Hello everybody!!

I have tried to initialize my TMS320C542 in a
100-Mhz Pentium I and selftest.exe is successful.
However, I tried to initialize other TMS320C542's
(3 kits in all) in a Pentium II and Pentium III PC's
the selftest.exe (under c:\dskplus) responded with: Attempting 8-bit Data I/O . . . .
8-bit Mode is Functional

No response from HINT interrupt signal.

* * * * TEST FAILED * * * * I have tried the change the I/O configurations among
Normal, EPP, ECP and EPP+ECP but to no avail.

Is it really so that TMS320C5xx and TMS320C54xx DSP
kits can run only on Pentium I platform? or is there
a way to overcome this problem.

I hope somebody in the group can answer this problem.
Thank you!!

Mabuhay! Roy,

Selftest polls HINT to check dsp-to-pc interrupt. The poll duration could be
too short in a Pentium II or III. Try increasing the duration by modifying
HINT(duration)
in line 190 of selftest.cpp (\dskplus\source) and recompile.

Hope this helps.

Stephen
