Hi, Studying proper circuit design featuring TI DSPs and CPLDs/FPGAs, I'm wondering about the `cost-of-entry' to properly use these devices alongside a DSP... I probably don't need to program the advanced / arcane features of a CPLD/FPGA, but rather need to multiplex a DSP's EMIF data and address bus to properly manage peripherals such as a CMOS sensor, a CompactFlash card and a MAC/PHY Ethernet chip alongside with standard SDRAM and Flash memory. Studying the Xilinx solutions, I'm wondering what is an optimal low- cost way to properly evaluate suitability of CPLD/FPGA to my design... - What evaluation board / software would you recommend? (In other words, what suite of tools is needed to program something of the complexity of the average TI / Spectrum Digital DSK?) - What common / low cost CPLD/FPGA is used successfully with TI DSPs? - Any tutorial you've encountered that could fast-track the learning process? - Any `reference designs' you could recommend for study on how to multiplex EMIF to access above-mentioned peripherals? Thanks again for any hints / links you could offer! Jean-Pierre |
