on chip CLKIN distribution on C5510 - nith...@signalogic.com - Jan 19 13:10:00 2006
Hello,
If anybody could please let me know if the CLKIN input signal to the TMS320VC5510 ( driven by
an external oscillator) is routed anywhere else on the chip other than the clock generation
unit and if so please give the details.
Specifically, I would like to know if the CLKIN is fed to to the internal memory interface unit
directly, bypassing the clock generation unit. The functional diagram in the datasheet does not
indicate anything like this. Please clarify and elaborate.
Any information or reference to a document with this information would be appreciated.
Thank you
Nithin

A follow up to this...
We checked with TI tech support and they said no, CLKIN goes nowhere else but DLL
(internal clock generation unit). The only doubts that linger in my mind are:
-whether the HPI state-machine uses CLKIN for sampling
-there is a difference with C5510 since it has a DLL,
not a PLL
