JTAG Problem for DM6446 - Nilanjan Goswami - Feb 29 7:24:36 2008

Hi Folks,

My organization just purchased a new DM6446 EVM from spectrum digital.
They told that this board supports their old XDS510USB JTAG which we
already possess. But the MSP340 JTAG JTAG connector of the EVM does not
match the JTAG connector we have of XDS510USB.

So my query is:

1. Doses this board at all supports the XDS510USB JTAG?
2. As you already know JTAG is a very costly hardware so can you suggest
me any way out of this trouble?

Thanking you all in advance,

Hi Nilanjan,

You might want to ask Spectrum Digital about a small adapter board that they
designed to connect 2x7 0.1' emulator connector to 2x10 0.05' Davinci JTAG
connector on the EVM. Regarding MSP430, it uses the same 2x7 0.1' connector,
but you might need an adapter as well, because pins on the xds510 might not
correspond to the signals on the MSP430 JTAG connector; you will need to check
this. Again, ask Spectrum Digital's support. You might also want to ask some
help from your local hardware engineers. (I asked my colleagues and they
helped me a lot! :)

I use an xds510 emulator (www.sauris.de) with an adapter to debug Davinci and
it works reasonably fine.

Rgds,

Andrew

FYI - ask far as I know, the MSP430 is in another universe. The last
time that debugged an MSP430 system, I needed a separate emulator and
debugger software.
