Code Composer v.2.1+ XDS560 - Henrry Andrian - Jun 9 11:33:00 2003

Dear All,

I have some question about Code Composer. Currently, I am using Code
composer v.2.1 which is distributed together with DSK6711. In my
previous email, I have said that I have planned to buy XDS560. I
just want to make sure whether XDS560 could work together within my
code composer which distributed together with DSK6711 so I mustn't
buy the Full Version of the Code Composer (the new version is 2.2).
So the question is : Should I buy the Full version Code Composer
v.2.2, in order to use the XDS560.

And do anyone know the difference between Code Composer v.2.2 with
the Code Composer which distributed together with DSK6711.

Hi,
I don't know the version of CCS distributed with DSK6711 but guess it must be CCS 2.10.
I guess it would be better if you can procure CCS 2.20 as there are some issues yet with CCS 2.10.
Hope this helps.

The Code composer version which distributed with
DSK6711 is 2.10. According to the XDS510 requirement
in TI website that Code Composer ver.2.1 is supporting
XDS510. I have discussed with my local TI product
distributor but they said that Code composer which
distributed with DSK6711 didnt support for XDS510. So
I have a little confusion about XDS510 and Code
composer which distribution with DSK6711. So I just
wonder to know whether if I dont buy the Full version
of Code Composer (CCS ver2.2) I still could use the
XDS560. Because I have to buy the Code Composer v2.2
It will cost me very much.

Re: Code Composer v.2.1+ XDS560 - Ganesh Vijayan - Jun 9 13:19:00 2003

Hi,
XDS560 works satisfactorily with CCS 2.10 or CCS 2.12 but 2.10 is bare minimum.
But if you have some application based on endianess, XDS560 gives some problems as there are some issues still to be cleared.
It isn't mandatory to use CCS 2.20 for XDS560. Preferably if you have a XDS510PP then its the best JTAG to use with any board.
Hope this solves your problem.
Thanks and Regards,
Ganesh

Hi,

Could you give more detail about the problem if I
using CCS with XDS560. Are you using both XDS560 and
XDS510 ? And could you give me some information about
that ?

Henry,

The CCS that comes with DSKs will not work with XDS510 or 560.
It is a special version just for DSKs (it is only $200-400 so you basically
pay only for the board) and you will have to buy a full CCS version
when you want to debug your own board.
