Technical discussions about the TI C6000 DSPs (including the c62x, c64x and c67x DSPs).

Hi Everyone. I have a couple of questions about the C620x familly. 1) For the C6202 and C6303 DSPs. Does everybody is using the Expansion bus as the interface between the CPU and the DSP or HPI still make sense ??? 2) TI claims that a lot a people are using the C6211 for their applications. I talked to a couple of customers and majority of them are using C620x. Is it true ??? Why the C6211 ??? Tks Guys, Bruno Latulippe Senior ASIC Engineer Tundra Semiconductor |

Hi Bruno, I'm not sure if using the expansion bus of C6202 always makes sense - I think where a DSP is controlled by another processor teh HPI may be more sensible. Where the DSP is an equal partner the expansion bus wins. C6211 will be very popular, but it's new. You'll probably find a lot of people are developing on C6201 (because they can get that now) and will switch to the C6211 when that becomes stable. We see a lot of interest in boards based on C6211 & C6711, but we're not in a position to ship them yet!
