Hi All, I need to compress High frequency signals like edges in an image. I have an image taken from the difference of smoothen and un-smoothen image(all the edges preserved). Please can you tell me any good Transform (other than DCT) which can efficiently compress this image. I have tried DCT but is not so efficient. Which one will be good DST or wavelet transform. Thanks fido

I want determine the picture with the highest mean from a set of images loaded into matlab as matrix. The code is below. I want to know the exact picture with the highest mean so as to make it as a basis for further calculation.this picture should be printed. for k = 1:length(jpegFiles) % loop to run large number of pictures filename = jpegFiles(k).name; data = imread(filename); y = mean(m...

Can anyone think of applications for a system that can fuse data from two sensors into one visual stream? What could you do if you could have one image with both visual and IR information, let's say, and it was overlayed/processed such that the best of both could be accentuated? It seems like there may be some good uses, and that in certain circumstances it could help create images that the comput...

Hello group. I'm dealing now with the task of converting 320x240 RGB video stream (50 fps, progressive) into a standard D1 stream (YCrCb 4:2:2, BT656 sync coded) in order to be able to interface to virtually any commercial video encoder device. Obviously, the steps of gamma-correction on RGB and then RGB to YCrCb conversion steps shall be done first, and these appear to be obvious. Now, I nee...

I'm just getting interested in image processing and was reading up about scale spaces. If anyone is familiar with the discipline I have a question. What's the correct way to go about creating a gaussian scale space? The process of the correct way to apply the gaussian filter to a digital image is where I'm initially having trouble. The digital image is discrete, and the gaussian filter operate...

Hi to all you. MY PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: I'm working on LCD/Plasma manufacturing on Tijuana, and we want to automate picture quality inspection. We have a design, this consist on convert LVDS video signal to DVI, then adjust it to a lCD monitor (to display it) using a scan converter (more than 4K USD the scan converter); Get the image on PC using frame grabbers, and compare the image with a ref...

I've a image with a circular object within it. I am interested only in the circular object for further analysis. I've tried several approaches to get the pixel for that circular object. The first approach executed was to equate every matrix outside the circular object to zero but I had a concern, i couldn't zero the edges since my original picture was in square. My other approach is trying to writ...
