Hi, I need to develop an MPEG4 codec. What ISO standards do i need to buy? And what are those that I can get for free?

Depnding what you want to do ? For video in Simple and Advanced Simple profile, you will need ISO 14496-2 A look at System ISO 14496-1 is interresting too. You may also get ISO 14496-4 for compliance testing procedure. Note that this specify the decoder and will not give you any clues on how to implement the encoder... a lot of job to do.
