Error Concealment | JPEG | MPEG-4 | Wavelet | YUV

Dear all,
           I am a student from India and currently working on a  Video Codec. I have to read a
" .avi file " in C language, process it and then again write back in form of
"stack of BMP Images" and "Audio file" separately.

I have mild knowledge of Image Processing and computer vision.
 
Can any bdy tell me how to proceed or can some 1 help me with some proto-type code and send me
some good pdf or tutorial or link.
