Error Concealment | JPEG | MPEG-4 | Wavelet | YUV

Hi,
I want to detect corners and i need a good and fast peek detection method. i
have searched the Internet and found one ( MATLAB function : findpeaks) but i
cant find the one i want:
i know that there is a peek detection method that tries to smooth the image and
subtract it from the original to remove base:

in the picture above (a) the black line shows original image and the red line
shows the smoothed picture. if we subtract these two, it results in (b).

If any one can help me to find this method i will be pleased
