Hi, Do you people use the uC/OS-II RTOS from Micrium? If so, what do you think about it e.g. is it worthwhile and what is the resource usage on the Motorola 56f8xx DSP? Regards Roelof Oelofsen Design specialist Telkom SA |

Hi, Did you see my last e-mail on the RTOS? If so, a simple yes or no will do, thank you. Roelof |

I have experimented with uCOS version 2.51 using the 807 eval kit and the RTOS works very well. The testing only used semaphores and the task time delay features (no msg boxes, queues, mutex etc.). The processor usage overhead is minimal, about 1 - 2%. ROM usage is a little less than 1K and RAM is about 580 bytes. It is pretty straight forward to use and the Motorola port works fine. If you need a RTOS it would be a good choice. The best starting place is Jean Labrosse's book on uCOS-II. You can get it online. It comes with uCOS-II version 2.04, so you will need to upgrade to 2.51 (the port supports 2.51). The book gives you a good insight on how to use the RTOS. You can get more information by going to www.usos-ii.com. -----Original Message----- From: Roelof Oelofsen [mailto:] Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 1:31 AM To: Subject: [motoroladsp] RE: RTOS Hi, Did you see my last e-mail on the RTOS?
