Explain timers use in ADC and SPI - TA1T - Nov 7 12:08:00 2003

Hello,

The Quad timer is required for the ADC module and the SPI module for
generating sync pulses. However, could somebody please explain what the sync pulses do with
regards to the ADC and the SPI modules. (Or how the quad timer is
used in these applications)

Thanks

RE: [motoroladsp] Explain timers use in ADC and SPI

With regard to the ADC sync signal, the normal usage is to synchronize the ADC capture with the PWM reload event.  That event can be used as an input to a timer which can then fire the ADC sync signal delayed from the PWM event.  Of course the timer can be synched to a different input, or the delay can be virtually eliminated by using a small count.

Jerry.
