I'm moving from using the 8323EVM to a production board and need assistance with the JTAG port. Most of the JTAG connections seem straight forward but I cannot find out where the JTAG pin DE goes! I've been unable to trace DE from the 14-Pin JTAG connector to the processor on the EVM schematics. What is DE used for and where does it go? Interesting question Rob. I too noticed the missing DE pin and was wondering whether my Command Converter is going to work with these chips. I think the DE pin is an output from the DSP to signal a debug event but does the debugger use this pin? /DE is Debug Event pin. As an input, it is a means of entering debug mode of operation from an external cammand controller. As an output, it is a means of acknowledge that the chip has entered debug mode. What my understand is that /DE pin is not being used in Metrowerks tools. So that why Motorola does not have this pin on 8323 package. I strongly suggest you contact Motorola on this issue.
