migrating from 56F803 to 56F8346 - thomaskracke - Feb 6 23:19:00 2004

Hallo DSP'lers,

I did a project in the past with the 56F803.
Now I'm looking for a better replacement:

I need
- a better ADC
- more speed

Does anybody know if the ADC in the 56F8346 is really better than the
ADC in the 56F803? I read something about internal calibration?
How good is the internal reference-voltage of the ADC?
Is the ADC a complete re-design or is it the old one of the 56F803?

Thank you very much!

Thomas

It is better.

There is a built-in voltage divider network, providing two data
points (Vref*0.25 and Vref*0.75), which can be used for calibration.
The utility of this feature to you depends on your application.

It is improved over the 80x series.

The ADC module in the 56F8300 series is a redesign of the 80x series
incorporating lessons learned. It offers more consistent performance
over temperature and ADC clock speed. The ADC module offers
additional features, such as smart power-down/Power-up to/from low
power modes.
