DSP56F800DEMO Board - so what? - Stefan Stenzel - Feb 27 17:15:00 2004

Hello,

Just got my new DSP56F800DEMO Board, installed the software,
but hardware and software do not seem to care for each other...
I plugged the board to the Parallel port, tried several tools,
but the mot/metrowerks documentation does not mention the
56F800DEMO Board at all, nor can I access it from PC, neither
with ads56800 or ccs or whatever... wish I had back all the
commandline tools instead of this fancy metrowerks IDE.

Do I have to solder some components to get it work?
Anything I need to install that I forgot ?

Anyone any idea?
PLEEZE?

Thanks,
Stefan

Do you have JP1 shorted ?
Do you get any error when running the debugger? like 'cannot connect to the
board'
Is your taget configured for parallel port?
Is you parallel port configured correctly?

I can give you some start up and test routines. You don't need to solder
anything UNLESS you need SCI communications or a nice and stable 8MHz
crystal.

I used to like command line tools, but I admit that after trying Metrowerks
IDE, I don't want to go back. The target settings are great, I compile using
the same code for 56807, 801 and simulator, all using different prefix
files, definitions, etc. With command line, this can get really messy....

Let me know anything else about your problem so I might helo you.
Mariano

Thank you all,

Now I am finally using my pretty new DSP56F800DEMO board, needed
to initialize the BIOS settings of my old Thinkpad, which almost
killed it...
