EVM not working on parallel port - gusf...@yahoo.com - Dec 4 9:31:00 2005
Hi!
My DSP56311EVM is nicely working on my old desktop PC, P3 with win2k.
I installed SUITE56 on the laptop (P4, winxp), and the board seems to be not
detected.
Any idea of what's going wrong?
Thanks!

Re: EVM not working on parallel port - dbaudiopro - Dec 5 11:20:00 2005
It's a realatively common problem. I have 4 computers each works
differently on different days. My older tower system (AMD Duron)
running 2K works very consistently, my two new tower systems (both P4s)
running XP work 90%+ of the time (seems that a few of the Windows
updates affect Suite56 drivers) and my newest laptop (P4) running XP
will only connect to an EVM using an external command converter (even
then 2 of my 5 PPCCs won't work with it) or if I connect directly to
the EVM through the docking station. It seems to be an issue with the
parallel port drive capability of the laptop. If I look at the signals
from the laptop vs. those from the dock the amplitudes are very
different. I think a shorter cable might help, but so far the best luck
I've had is with an external command converter (PPCC). Of course
another person I know with the exact same laptop I have can communicate
directly with an EVM without using the dock...
