Technical discussions about Freescale (Motorola) DSPs (including the DSP56000, DSP56300, DSP56600, 56800 DSPs).
Hi everyone None of my dealers can tell me how to get information on the way the Dolby Digital and DTS licensing works for the 563xx Audio family. Thanks for your help Larry
There are many user's out there of the 563xx Family and there seems to be quite an extensive roadmap planned for it, though many of the details seem to still be held under NDA. I'm sure there are plans for supporting the new formats as Motorola/Freescale has always had a history of being one of the first to support new formats. Also, the 563xx Family was never abandoned, it just didn't get much attention the past couple of years. There does seem to be some much renewed interest in it from Freescale though... -- dB --- Laurent Fusilier ELSI <l...@wanadoo.fr> wrote: > Thanks for the info > > DD and DTS are moving to HD, does anyone know whether Freescale is > working > on including them? > > Since Freescale had almost abandonned it a few years ago before > reminding it > lately, > I don't know whether there is that much interest into the 563xx... > > Btw, are there still a good many users for this fantastic machine ? > > Thanks > Larry > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mark Bartelt" <d...@yahoo.com> > To: "larry_fuse" <l...@wanadoo.fr>; > <m...@yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2006 4:37 PM > Subject: Re: [motoroladsp] DD and DTS licences for the 563xx > > Larry, > > > > Licensing for Dolby and DTS is handled directly through those > > respective companies. Larry, Licensing for Dolby and DTS is handled directly through those respective companies. You must contact them and follow their procedures. Freescale stays out of the licensing process. The only requirement is that you show proof of license to Freescale before you can purchase any device which contains Dolby and/or DTS algrithms... -- dB --- larry_fuse <l...@wanadoo.fr> wrote: > Hi everyone > > None of my dealers can tell me how to get > information on the way the Dolby Digital and DTS licensing > works for the 563xx Audio family. > > Thanks for your help > > Larry >
Thanks for the info DD and DTS are moving to HD, does anyone know whether Freescale is working on including them? Since Freescale had almost abandonned it a few years ago before reminding it lately, I don't know whether there is that much interest into the 563xx... Btw, are there still a good many users for this fantastic machine ? NDA?... I guess you meant DNA. I thought this department was included in the new Freescale. Where have you seen a roadmap please? It is a pity they didn't pay attention to the 563xx, they have made many turn toward the AD DSPs...
