Hi,
I have a MOTOROLA DSP56363 and a MOTOROLA DSP56367 EVM and am using with the
supplied degugging software interface supplied with the Motorola EVM's and
provided by Domain Technology.
I've used both these EVM's sucessfully on varied PC platforms from WINDOWS 3.1
through to WINDOWS 7 (32 bit).
I've now trying to run them, without sucess, on a 64 bit Windows 7 platform.
I've tried all the various compatabilty modes that come with WINDOWS 7 64 bit,
but without sucess. There's a short burst of hard disk activity, but no
on-screen messages or warnings, and no result.
Doeas any bright spark have an idea how I can get these EVM's to run on WINDOWS
7 (in compatability mode)?
I would be really reluctant to have to loose these EVM's - they are basic, but
have been very reliable and stable (up to now).
Any help, assistance or advice would be very appreciated.

Hi Paul,

Have you tried SymphonyStudio tool with your EVM? If it does not work, I
think you may can need to install VirtualMachine to resolve it?

Hi Paul,

I guess you have one of the previous boards to the DSPAUDIOEVM. Those board
(DSP56362EVM for instance) used a serial debug interface in conjunction with the
16bit Windows DomainTec debug software. This software doesn't run with 64bit
Windows 7 probably (I could't check this). 

The good news is that all Motorola/Freascale DSP boards share the 14pin
OnCE/JTAG header that provides access to the DSP by an external hardware debug
interface.

Currently supported by the Symphony Studio software are:

1.) Domain Technoloies USBEMU, see: http://domaintec.com/usbemu.html

2.) MacCraigor Wiggler, see: http://macraigor.com/wiggler.htm

the same device is sold by Freescale as DSPCOMMPARALLEL, see:

(I produced a batch of copies of this interface but they are getting useless
more and more since the parallel port is obsolete for new computers)

3.) MacCraigor USBdemon, see:

(this debug interface doesn't work with the DSP56371 since there is a reset pin
lacking, but that's another story and doesn't matter for you)

4.) Xverve Signalizer, great cheap device but unfortunately obsolete now, see:

I've tested all these debug interfaces with Symphony Studio successfully.

An alternative could be to use the legacy Motorola Suite56 software (this is
interesting for me since I'm used to this software), see:

The command converter that comes with this software supports 2.) as well as the
DSPCOMMPCI debug interface that is obsolete since some years, see:

Installed the Microsoft Virtual Machine software, and then the Windows XP Mode
download, and now I have my two Motorola 563xx EVMS working fine again.
