if Ireset the card when JTAG cable is removed the
program does not work.Even after placing back the JTAG
cable I need to download the code again. When was going
through the user manual it was said that boot flash to
be programed using SPI/SCI/MSCAN ,I could not follow
the algorithm pls help me.

Re: programming boot flash - metrowerks - Dec 24 4:40:00 2001

Hello,

I am looking into this matter. However I was not able to get a
satisfactory answer before our offices closed for the end of year
holidays. I will look into this and review it once our offices open
back up again on the 2nd of January.

Re: programming boot flash - MW Ron - Jan 3 15:19:00 2002

Vrishab,

First of all, you might want to consider upgrading to the most recent 4.0
release of CodeWarrior which has major enhancements over the 3.5 version of
the tools.  If you would like to do so, please contact the appropriate sales
representative by looking at:

http://www.metrowerks.com/buy/

It sounds like your project is missing the necessary interrupt vectors in
order to boot in standalone mode.  You can program the flash through either
just using the integrated debugger through CodeWarrior or by using a serial
bootloader application which comes contained within the SDK.  With the
combined package of the CodeWarrior R4.0 and SDK R2.4 you can find many
examples of projects capable of running in standalone mode for almost all of
the DSP56F8xx line of processors and their EVM's.  Not only that, but there
is sample stationery provided for this purpose as well for you to be able to
do it on your own.

If you would like for us to look at your project and diagnose the problem
you will need to go through technical support at or
by calling 1-800-377-5416.

Hope this information helps!
