Audio recognition processors? - James - Jan 30 10:06:00 2004

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a product i'm
undertaking.

I need a device that can essentially "learn" a particular sound. E.g.
The device starts blank, i place it next to a doorbell, put the
device into "learn" mode, ring the bell and the device will learn
this sound. Now the device will only activate to the sound of this
doorbell and nothing else. I originally thought that neural networks
could do this job for me, but i have since been brought to the
attention of Digital Signal Processors and the prospect that these
would do the job better. However i have very little knowledge in this
area and am finding it extremely difficult finding any devices that
can do this job.

If anyone is able to point me in the right direction to solving the
above problem, i would be extremely grateful.

Many Thanks,

James
