Quantization of LSP /G.729 - wnit...@yahoo.com - Aug 22 8:21:21 2006

hi all,
G.729 recommendation states:-to predict the values of LSF a 4th oreder MA is used. Two
predictions are possible .the encoder chooses which one to use and indices it with a bit in the
bit stream.
after prediction ,prediction error is computed .this error is sent to decoder by vector
quantizing it.
my que is what are these two possible predictions ?
what is MA prediction?
can any body please explain VQ in simple terms.how G.729 does this..
any online reference wud be great help

thanx and regards.
Raj

Dear Raj,
I recommend two IEEE papers:
(1)Design and description of CS-ACELP: a toll quality 8 kb_s speech coder
(2)Implementation and performance of an 8-kbit/s conjugate structure CELP speech coder

Best regards
