I there any body doing speech coding with discrete Furier transform? What is the advantage and disadvantage of this approach? |

Hello, There are several methods particularly for low bit rate speech coding which utilize the DFT. For example, in waveform interpolation coding the DFT is done pitch-synchronously for the linear prediction residual signal. The DFT representation of pitch cycles is then downsampled, quantized and transmitted. At a receiving end, synthesized speech signal is obtained using interpolated pitch cycles.
