ROLE OBJECTIVE:
The DSP Software Engineer is responsible for design support to the instrument design team. This Engineer will interact with members of the engineering team to design and test new instrument firmware and software products in a concurrent project-engineering environment. This will be accomplished under the supervision of the software engineering manager. Completion of job responsibilities will be through both internal and external contacts and accomplished in a timely and ethical manner.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Primary: Provides software design support for new product development, sales, purchasing, quality, and sustaining engineering support for manufacturing.
1.Develop real time DSP software on embedded processors and FPGA platforms for next generation products using C, MATLAB, Simulink, and other tools.
2.Use and application of PC based support tools like compilers, debuggers and configuration Management software
3.Create and maintain project software documentation and computer aided software-engineering aspects of project management, including software requirements and test documents.
4.Technical assistance to sales, customer service and customers as required.
5.Technical support and sustaining engineering for manufacturing operations.
6.Technical support to purchasing for vendor or parts selection.
7.Other software design tasks as required by the Engineering Manager.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Level of Education - Bachelors degree in engineering or science.
Other –minimum three years of experience designing DSP systems. Demonstrated technical knowledge of simulated algorithms and hardware subsystems to verify performance and feasibility of measurement schemes for systems instrument design. Thorough understanding of the underlying mathematical principals of software design and DSP. Excellent PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Experience with high level languages such as C and VHDL for multiple processor types. Good interpersonal skills.
