Job Description:
Harris RF Communications is the leading global supplier of secure radio communications and embedded high-grade encryption solutions for military, government and commercial organizations and a leading supplier of assured communications systems and equipment for public safety, utility and transportation markets, with products ranging from the most advanced IP voice and data networks to portable and mobile single- and multiband radios.
Qualified candidates will be responsible for the design and development of real-time embedded, digital signal processing software for advanced radio communications equipment.
• Working in a team environment, design and develop software components required to implement features and capabilities for software defined radios.
• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle (requirements analysis, high level design, detailed design, coding, unit test, integration, system level test).
• Prepare work estimates, schedule inputs and metric data to project management.
• Consult with other cross-functional engineering staff (electrical, mechanical, systems) to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
• Develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming and documentation.
• Provide technical leadership for the team and act as a mentor for junior developers.
• Interface with both internal and external customers.
• Operates independently with minimal direction from technical leads.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years experience in the design, implementation, and test of digital signal processing and general purpose processing software.
• Expertise in C and C++ embedded software development (DSP and GPP).
• Experience with Texas Instrument DSPs and development environments
• Experience with DSP development environment (Code Composer, etc)
• Experience with DSP emulators (XDS560, etc)
• Minimum 8 years experience in the design, implementation, and test of embedded software.
• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering

Preferred Additional Skills:
• Detailed DSP experience including development of DSP algorithms is a plus.
• 5+ years experience with narrowband frequency hopping waveforms (SINCGARS, HaveQuick, or SATURN), UMTS, WCDMA, or commercial 3G
• Working knowledge of FPGA
• ARM and/or Freescale microprocessor experience
• Tactical Radio Communications waveforms and equipment
• Experience with QNX OS, OrbExpress and CORBA
• Software Communications Architecture (SCA)
• CMMI and standard software development processes
• Networking Protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, etc.)
• Self starting and exhibit high initiative
• Ability to quickly familiarize self with existing capabilities and provide technical direction to others
This position does require the ability to obtain a secret clearance
