Fundamentals of the Discrete Haar Wavelet Transform

The discrete wavelet transform, a generalization of the Fourier analysis, is widely used in several signal and image processing applications. In this paper, the fundamentals of the discrete Haar wavelet transform are presented from signal processing and Fourier analysis point of view. Fast algorithms for the implementation of Haar discrete wavelet transform, for both 1-D and 2-D signals, are presented.
