How Rune Allnor can attend the COMP.DSP Conference - Rick Lyons - 2010-03-07 18:29:00

Hi,
I have figured out a way that will enable Rune Allnor to
attend our COMP.DSP Conference in Kansas City next month.
Rune all you have to do is complete the following steps:

[1] Hijack the ship on which you are working.
[2] Cross the Atlantic Ocean and enter the St. Lawrence
    Seaway.
[3] Travel across Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, Lake Huron,
and go to the southern tip of Lake Michigan.
[4] Abandon ship in Chicago Illinois.
[5] Take a taxi cab to Kansas City, Kansas. That taxi ride
should cost less than 3000 dollars U.S.

Rune, if you do all of this, I'm willing to share my hotel
room with you in order to reduce your travel expenses.
What do you think Rune?

Regards, and hope to see you in Kansas City.

Rune, those directions are crap.

Do [1], but then take a left at Newfoundland, then a right at the Tropic
of Cancer (you can't miss it -- there's a big white line in the ocean
going east-west). Take another right when you're in the center of the
Gulf of Mexico. Go right past Nawleans, up the Mississippi to St Louis.

_Then_ get a cab to Kansas city. You'll save a bundle.

Just north of St. Louis, turn left onto the Missouri River. Follow to Kansas
City.

Augh! How could I miss that?!? (*) How unrealistic I was, to think
that Rune should take a cab.

* 'cause I'm from the West coast, where we all know that _real_ America
ends at the crest of the Rockies, and civilization at the Mississippi.

I know some folks here in New England who would agree with that, except pointing
westward instead of eastward.

Dr. Rune Allnor is viking. He dwells on pirate ship; he travels on cold
stormy nights without Moon. His long white beard is feared as well as
the business side of his long sword.

Thanks, guys, for some very... ehm... *interesting* ideas.
Remind me not to use your travel agents next time I'll
have to go somewhere...

What a cool idea! I wonder if we have any other such thoughts?

Rune, what would it really take?

For me to hijack a ship?? You must be kiddin...?

Seriously, I can't travel anywhere these days. The survey
season is starting up, and anyone who want to get income
this season better be available first time the phone rings.
If you can't leave for four weeks two days from now, the
next person on the list can. And there are no prizes for
guessing who - the guy who passed on the first oportunity,
or the guy who went on 30 hrs notice - gets the call for
the trip after that. And after that. And after that.
