Good quality voice pitch-shift algorithms (Digitech, TC Helicon, Eventide)? - Tony - 2004-06-27 23:30:00

Hi,

After a lot of searching I've been unable to find out anything at all
on the algorithms used by the better vocal harmony / pitch shifters.
Can anyone point me to a useful link?

Some of these products use technology patented by IVL
(http://www.ivl.com). When I learned about this I was very surprised
that they hold these patents (since it's all about plain granular
synthesis/sampling stuff which is rather obvious), but looks like
that's how things are. You might find something about this on my web
site (http://www.dspdimension.com) but I'm not sure if I cover these
algorithms explicitely.

Thanks Stephan - even if I don't find what I was looking for, there's
a ton of interesting reading there. Well done!
