Hi Vinay,
I personally would recommend MATLAB for this task, due to the vast
functionality it offers in algos related to DIP and Pattern Recognition. I
myself had implemented several algos related to Face Recognition in MATLAB
7.0 during my college time when i too, just like u, knew very little abt
MATLAB programming. However, its not very difficult to learn and the
toolboxes/functionalities they offer really make ur task easier and much
more fun and creative.
For the algos part, u can try implementing eigen face (PCA) or Fisherfaces
or Independent Component Analysis (ICA). They shud work fine for most of the
cases.
