complex FM demodulation

I was wondering if anybody knows the algorithm for Matlab's complex FM
demodulation function. I need to correlate bench data to test data and I need
to write the complex FM demodulation in visual basic. A block diagram would
work as well. Thee seem to be a few different methods out there, some quite
involved.
