Reference Video Clips for Video Compression Testing?

Hi Folks, Are there any raw video clips (YUV 4:2:2, preferably) that are known stressors on video encoders (e.g., MPEG-4 ASP, H.264, etc.)? Is there a standard set of clips used for verification of video codecs? --Randy

WAV is a container format, doesn't tell you anything about the contents. Perhaps we should refer to LPCM on the one hand, and compressed digital on the other. -- Stewart Pinkerton | Music is Art -

About a year and a half ago I came across a book on digital systems design that I liked. I can't remember the title or the authors but in one of the last chapters it had an example of JPEG/MPEG codec. I didn't buy it because I was short on cash at the time, I think it was $130.00. Does anybody recognize the book I'm looking for? Thanks in advance, Derek

Can anyone shortly descripe what the difference in using FFT as opposed to MDCT for transforming between time- and frequencydomain? Is there one or two large pros in using one over the other. I.e. the MPEG-1 Psychoacoustic Model-1 uses a FFT (with a complex expontial series) to perform the transformation, but why not use purely MDCT for this?

Hi, Can anyone point out about sub-band synthesis filter used in DAB systems ? I have the algorithm for sub-band analysis filter that is used in MPEG layer II encoder. But i am unable to understand how the reverse process is acheived with the same parameters as that in encoder. Thanks, Sunil

Hi All, Help needed: Please let me know the ALGORITHM for decoding H.264, I have already gone through the basic concepts of MPEG-4 & H.264. In net i couldn't find any particular document related for decoding. I have downloaded the source from " http://iphome.hhi.de/suehring/tml/doc/ldec/html/files.html ". Thanks & Regards, Answers.

Hi, I came across the following in the book "H.264 and MPEG 4 Video Compression" by Iain E.G. Richardson: "Flowgraph" algorithms are very popular for software CODECS where (in most cases) the best performance is achieved by minimizing the number of computationally expensive multiply operations. For a hardware implementation, "regular data flow" may be more important than the number of o...

Hello DSP gurus. I am busy researching the possibilities of detecting and recognizing text in motion video (MPEG/WMV stream). So far i've found lots op university-projects and a hand full of commercial applications that kind-of do what I seek. I am not interested in spending months/years of research and development to build my own software. I am looking for a currently stable and functiona...

Howdy, I'm trying to get the DCT and IDCT algorithm correct for MPEG-4 encoding/decoding. Following the DCT equation that I've put here: http://www.teamearth.com/wiki/Main/MPEG4 , I generated the following DCT and IDCT algorithms: void dct(int data[8][8]) { int u,v,x,y; double temp[8][8] = {{0}}; for (u=0; u

i am doing a project on audio watermarking. in this after shaping the moise spectrum according to the frequency mask of the human auditory system, i am taking IFFT of the noise samples. the thing is that the number of frequency bins for the unfiltered noise and the mask are both 512. so i will get 512 points as the product of the above two . now i need to take ifft of 384 samples as per MPEG Audi...
