Hi, I'm currently coding an adaption of the LBG vector quantization algorithm. At the point where you have attributed each vector to one of the code vectors, you must calculate the centroid of those vectors to become the new centroid of the code vectors. My question is this. If no vectors have been attributed to that particular code vector, then do you simply leave the code vector a...

Why is it whenever I record from one wave file - at an extremely low volume - another wave file, I get noise? The process is completely digital. There is no analog, no D-A, and no A-D. Why the #%!$@%!@# is their noise? Since this is not analog-to-digital, this is obviously *not* quantization noise. Quantization noise only occur during A-D conversion when the input volume and/or bit-resol...

Yes, it was the 1/N factor I was remembering or not remembering as the case may be. Like I said, when I was introduced to this part of DSP, it was given that 1/N is known to be needed to "close the loop", but there is no rational for where you include it. As to the other conversion factors, yes, they are there, but that is just a matter of the quantization levels established by

Hi all, I am new to the DSP area. Currently I am trying to understand the integer FFT algorithm. But after going through the document I am not clear about the uplifting and quantization of the twiddle co- efficient's by using which the multiplication operation is converted into the shift and addition operations. Eagerly waiting for reply. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have been pondering about this all day and I think I need some clarification. In current GPS systems the post-IF A/D uses 1-2 bits. Since in GPS signals the SNR is -19 how can this be enough resolution to recover the signal? I am sure it has to do with DS-SS but I have not been able to find a good source that can explain the choice of levels. If anyone has any clues please let me kn...

Hi, I have a channel with significant ISI with a 3 level (1,0,-1) transmission. The transmitted data and the receiver data after quantization have zero mean. The problem is that the error output of the equalizer after convergence is not zero mean even (it's slightly positive) though its variance is very low (around 22dB below signal power). It's been pointed to me that it should be zero mean...
