HI, I'm using the ADSP-21375 SHARC. Does anybody know how I can write data to external data bus without using the AMI or the SDRAM controller? The reasoan is that I want to do the cycle delays etc. by myself so simply lets say I want to write the value 0x9090 to D0-D15 and these values shoul remain there as long as I want. Raphael

I'm having a hard time trying to find documentation on how to use SHARC's JTAG port for debugging. I'm evaluating the ADSP-21363. Do I have access do all internal memory. What are the commands to do it? How so set a break point? Can I check for memory invasion? What's the tranfer rate (for reading/writing the internal memory)? I don't want to use an ADI emulation pod. Hello, I have a sharc adsp-21061 ez-kit board and I would like to make two changes to it. The first change is to use the second serial port to talk to a different A/D. The problem with the A/D on the card is that it wants to be AC coupled. I need DC data. So I plan on hooking up an AD974 or AD977 to the second serial port. Does anyone see a problem here? The second problem i...

Hello! I was wondering whether there is a tool to graphically program the Analog Devices SHARC processor. The SigmaStudio tool does not seem to be available for the processor I have (it is on the EZ-Kit Lite for the ADSP-2136x SHARC processor family). All it has included in the package is Visual DSP++. In particular, I would like your suggestion for a tool which allows making custom blo...

I'm looking for experience with commercial/GPL MP3 or Ogg-Vorbis source libraries and SHARC architecture. I need to decode and play multiple audio streams for an industrial audio server. I've googled a lot and I see a few options, but I can't find any type of comparison or review data. Thanks a bunch for any input.

Hi everyone, I'm an EE student at the University of Florida trying to finish up my senior project, an audio DSP dev. board based on the 21065L SHARC interfaced with an AD1838A 24-bit, 96-kHz codec. I have used the application notes on ADI's website, describing interfacing the 21161N to the AD1836 and the 21065L to the AD1819, as a reference for both hardware and software. I'm currentl...

there used to be an ADSP-21161 that was about $10 at Digi-Key. now the cheapest SHArC i can see at Digi-Key is the ADSP-21262 which is about $20. i thought the older ADSP-21065L was under $10 eventually. didn't they replace that with a newer chip that's just as cheap? i know about the ADI Sigma chips, but don't you think there would be a modern and cheap SHArC that is a little stripped do...

Hi, I'm creating a guitar effects system using the new generation of Analog Devices SHARC board (ADSP-21364 to be precise). I am sampling at 48kHz and have created a buffer of 30,000 samples to create an echo effect. This all works fine, however when I increase the buffer size any more there isn't enough internal memory left to facilitate the buffer. Using VisualDSP++'s very handy ex...

It looks like the link reported in the FAQ 3.3.2 is broken. Apparently the maintainer of the tools moved the content here: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~theom/electronics/sharc/ (better cross check with the maintainer of the tools though). Further info: - I cannot untar the sharcasm (tar xvf does not work). - the binutils package looks promising but unfortunately is roughly spe...

I've developed an application on a SHARC 21469 development board (EZKIT). One of my friends (an electrical HW engineer) has laid out the board for production duplicating everything from the schematics. When he got to the “communication” part of the schematic (i.e. the daughter board with an ASIC; the one that provides the JTAG USB interface), it says that the AD USB circuitry is

Hi, I have some 24bit audio data (stored in an unsigned int). I have to sign extend it to 32 bit. From what I understand, I just look at bit 23 (counting from bit0) which is the sign-bit. If it is 1 then I place 1's in bit23 to bit31. If it is zero then I don't need to do anything. Now...is there a fast way of doing that on SHARC ADSP 21469 ? A built- in function or something? Hey, Im working with an ADSP-21364 SHARC processor and EZKIT. I have a problem when trying to integrate two programs that use the serial ports. This stand-alone program functions correctly. My second program...

Hi guys, I am looking for a possible reason for a very interesting spike issue. The setup is as below, Box A ? 16 Channel D/A converter. Box B ? SHARC 21368 DSP platform. These two boxes are connected in I2S mode using the SHARC?s SPORT. The Box A is the master providing WCLK and BCLK for the DSP. 8 I2S links are there from the DSP to the A/D converter. Hi I'm having some issues with a SHARC ADSP 21369. I'm perfroming a number of FFTs on 8k sample blocks using the ADSP21369 EZKIT LITE and have encountered a show stopper. If I run the FFT using the SDRAM to store the buffers (too big for internal) then it takes 10 times as long. 2-3 times I would accept. I have timed reads and writes to the SDRAM and they are within 3 times the number of cy...

Hello, I have a problem host booting my SHARC 21161 Multiprocessor system. I get System hangs due to a HBG# hang each time I download the loader file generated with the Visual DSP environment. The ADSP 21161 Hardware Reference states that you can get those hangs writing to a non exis...
