Hello! I am a student of the TGM a technical college in Vienna. I use the ADSP 21161N_ez_kite_lite board with a SHARC processor. I need help because I want to receive some signals (HIGH/LOW) from an external board which is connected to a port from the DSP. The signals will be used by the application. I have problems to address each bus-line from the port separate. I tried this by the ...

Hi, I think I am on to a fairly interesting idea worth pursuing. Basically it is an effect pedal for guitar/voice with a set of new features. Not dare to ask my boss coz he will for sure be pissed. So I'd like to collect some idea of what the real cost would be for making it, this should include BOM, tooling... but ignore the distribution and all that crap. the major parts are Sharc-...

Hi folks- I'll be working on a DSP project in a few months, as someone with significant 8-bit microcontroller experience, and lots of signal processing experience in software (C, Fortran, Python) but none on hardware DSP. The two applications involve audio processing; one of them will be portable. Blackfin is the platform I'm currently leaning toward. I see that AD currently has Bla...

Hello guys, Working on ADSP-21065L, VisualDSP++ 3.5 Nov'04 update. I my application I'd get good benefit form the sprintf function, which one links to with #include . However, I don't need the full of the library. But (as expected) the full library plus my code do not fit within the internal memory of the '065L. I tried to change the .ldf in order to make some part of Bl

I have implemented various IIR filters, up to 16th order, as a series of biquads in cascade. However, I now am attempting to optimize this code to run on a SIMD processor (SHARC 21161). For that purpose, it appears that a parallel filter form would be much better suited since it would allow working on 2 paths in parallel. Is there any simple way to convert my cascade coefficients to paral...

Hi Jon, Given the information you provided, it seems to me that either the DSP chip itself or the PCB board are the cause of the problem, since many boards work as expected. Can you test your PCB? When you say that you "lifted the pin", did you mean that you separated the specific pin on the DSP from the PCB, and measuring the level at the pin it is still driven low? What if you check at...

Hi, We have a design that uses C67x and a cheap MCU. The C6747 will boot from serial flash. What is the best strategy for doing code protection (protecting the code from being ripped out)? Or if the code is ripped, it won't run properly. I found one interesting feature on SHARC-213xx called "ROM-based security", which is close to what we are looking for. Thanks a lot.

I am looking for a DSP development board for a bench-top project. I want to use an Analog Devices Sharc or equivalent TI processor. My input signal of interest is a LFM waveform with a 30MHz bandwidth (Lets assume it is at baseband for now). So, I would like to find a development board with dual A/D converters that sample > 30Msps. It would also be interesting to know if any development boards are

Hi All, Just a quick curiosity. If you write an algorithm in visualDSP++ ,for example, for a sharc processor and want to put this on thousands of such chips, how can this quantity of duplication be achieved? Do you send your algorithm to Analog Devices and they produce the customized chips? And what would the cost be roughly, say for 1,000; 10,000 and 100,000 chips (just for the duplication, not ...

Hello! I've been working on an ADSP-21262 assembler and simulator, and I had a friend mention that I might run into legal troubles, given that my simulator (if it works) will compete (for a very limited definition of the word "compete") with Analog's VisualDSP++ toolchain. I searched the USPTO website and found that AD has a lot of patents on various bits of the SHARC technology. I'd like to ...

I have a few questions about SIMD memory accesses on the ADSP-21161N. It seems to me the documentation is confusing or incomplete. 1. I am confused about the broadcast load feature. Referring to the Hardware Reference page 5-40, it states, "broadcast loading only influences writes to registers and write identical data to these registers." But then, on the next page in Table 5-41, a footn...
