So, I've been looking at a few ways of creating a module that does "video-i= n" -> "convert to stream of individual JPEG images" -> "send over a network= ". One way might be to use a Blackfin DSP. I'm having some difficulty trying to figure out whether the DSP would be up= to the job though. On the ADI site, they seem to be quoting ~31 cycles/pix= el (http://www.analog.com/en/processors-ds

Dear Experts, I need your help in order to detect what i am possibly doing wrong. I try to run the examples that came with the board (just as it came), especially the video and video networking examples and the result is always the same: at the beginning the screen shows a color bar, and then when I try to run any of the examples the screen just becomes pink/grey. I am trying to run the e...

Hello DSP gurus. I am busy researching the possibilities of detecting and recognizing text in motion video (MPEG/WMV stream). So far i've found lots op university-projects and a hand full of commercial applications that kind-of do what I seek. I am not interested in spending months/years of research and development to build my own software. I am looking for a currently stable and functiona...

Hi All, If anyone's interested, I captured a video yesterday of a humming bird on our feeder outside our apartment in Los Gatos, CA. I'm quite pleased with it! You can download it from http://home.comcast.net/~symon_brewer/Motion_16.avi . It's a 15 Mbyte AVI file, so only for those with broadband or a lot of patience. It plays in Windows Media player, but I recommend downloading it by r...

Hi guys, Any recommandation for a DSP well suited for an "IP-connected intelligent cameras" project, with the following key characteristics : - On-chip video in port - Quite high horsepower (in the 1000Mips range) - Able to drive a quite large external Ram (32Mo) - Ethernet 100BT interface I have already Blackfin and TI's TMS320DM64x in mind, but any advice or alternative choice will be ...

General instrument was able to digitize, compress, and send no less than 12 standard 6MHz wide analog video signals up to a bird that was only for analog TV signals, and they effectively increase

This is a short video segment showing some trial runs at an early stage in the development process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUEiiVFqVww One set of segments takes place over Chicago, the other around Mount Rushmore. Since it's only a first trial run (basically to see how far one can move in different directions before distortion sets in), the images were reprojected at redu

Hi, When looking at many of the video scalers and DSPs for consumer video, the datasheets usually list several cascaded polyphase FIR filters. They usually supply software libraries that generate the filter coefficients given a pair of numbers describing how much interpolation and decimation. In attempting to get a much better understanding of basic DSP skills, I started to build my own mod...

Just an observation: the largest part of a modern computer game is the library of the miscellaneous sound samples. Announcements, dialogs, nature, music, etc. Isn't it strange that the video part of a game is produced by the real time rendering of some kind of a simple model of the reality, whereas the audio is stored as the samples of the live sounds? Why the fairly sophisticate...

Folks, This is a survey question. What devices/technology is currently available to a designer for implementing wireless interfaces? (Assuming the TV also had such an interface...) For examp...

Hi there, I need help in understanding a group of video decoder chip specifications. Let me use TI's TVP5146 as an example. The first thing I want to know is the output digital data rate. I guess eithe...

I am beginner studying the videco codec. So I am sorry in case of I may have stupid question. On my way to study the H.263 video coder, I have question how encoder processes the frame from A/D converter. I imagine like that. After raw image signal(R,G,B) from A/D converter, color mapping is performed.( convert RBG to YCbCr) one frame store the buffer and then it is encoded. Simultaneously...

Hi, I am trying a simple video loop through application using the EVM DM642 from Spectrum Digital. (EVM v3 with TI decoders, CCS 3.1, DSP/BIOS 5.2) As far as I can tell my code as well as the DSP/BIOS configuration is identical to the samples provided. Unfortunately, the program hangs during the start up phase, either during EVM_init() or in the capture task during the first call to FVI...

Hi all. I'm using a DM642 to capture a PAL frame from a video port as 8 bit YCbCr. I want to subsample this frame by half, but I can't use the video port scaler because I need the full frame too. I tried this using 8 bit QDMA transfers set up as indexed source/incremented dest. The problem is that this is the probably the most inefficient use of the EDMA engine possible, and the whole th...

Hello... I'm currently working on a project in video surveillance. After performing foreground segmentation, I get blobs + noise (due to light variation etc.). To separate the blobs from the noise, I perform simple operations (such as removing all blobs with area < 500 pixels). I'm left with blobs (humans and ghosts). Now here is my problem, how do I apply kalman filters to track these bl
