The problem was solved! Jeff was right. There is a stand alone boot
jumper named JP7, which was set to boot from flash. I had to put it
close to TP5 to solve the problem.

Thank you so much guys!

One possibility is that the VS1501 board is holding the DM642 in Reset. There might
be a "stand alone boot" jumper or something similar. Also Valde Systems may provide
some type of driver or program that lets you control the Reset. Is there a way to
talk to this board from the host PC?

I downloaded the latest drivers for SDConfig and ran all the tests.
Everything seems to be fine. Here is the result from the Emulator
Test:

** Checking emulator/eZdsp scan connection
** Emulator Test **
$$ EmuProductName=XDS510USB
$$ EmuPortAddr=0x510
$$ EmuPortMode=USB
$$ ProductIdQ0
$$ ProductVersion
** Emulator Scan Test
-- Found JTAG IR length of 38
-- Found 1 JTAG device(s) in the scan chain

I am also able to reset the Emulator fine and to run diagnostics
errorfree.

However, when I try to connect to the target board I still get the
same error. Do you guys have any other suggestions? I really
appreciate your help!

Thank you,

Nikolay

Nikolay,

I echo what kurrinchi said. Make sure SDconfig runs. Also, no matter
how new your emulator is, go to the SD web site and make sure that you
have the latest drivers.

Hi Nikolay,

Did u try the SDconfig utility, Are you able to reset the emulator using
SDconfig. also try the test and run . The output will show how many
devices the JTAG is connected. If you are not able to reset the emulator
is not connected properly. . Check the power cable . Check the keying
for the connector connected to the board.

Hi everybody,

I am new to dsp. I just received an XDS510 USB JTAG Emulator. I also
have a Valde Systems VS1501 Board, which is based on the TMS320DM642
Processor. I installed the XDS drivers and went to CCSv3.3 Setup to
Configure the board. I used the following configuration:

C64xx Rev 1.1 XDS510-USB Board
Driver Location: C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgo6400usb_11.dvr
Diagnostic Utility: C:\CCSTUDIO_V3.3\specdig\sdconfig\SDConfig.exe
I/O Port: 0x510

CPU GEL File: C:\CCStudio_v3.3\ValdeSystems\VS1501\vs1501_112506.gel
(Specific the my target board)

I saved the configuration and started CCSv3.3. There was an error
during the loading phase of the XDS emulator application:

Error initializing emulator:
Error 0x80000240/-1156
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,
Invalid data was scanned by the emulation controller. Verify the
board setup to make sure the scan chain is properly defined. If the
setup is correct, then RESET EMULATOR. This will disconnect each
target from the emulator. The targets should then be power cycled or
hard reset followed by an emureset and reconnect to each target.

Sequence ID: 0
Error Code: -1156
Error Class: 0x80000240
I/O Port = 510

Board Name: C64xx Rev 1.1 XDS510-USB
Cpu Name: Stereo_CPU

Abort: Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry: Try to initialize the emulator again.
Ignore: Ignore the initialization error and start
potentially without target debugging access.
Diagnostic: Run diagnostic utility.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions because I am completely
stuck!

Thank you so much!

Nikolay
