I've been down this road. You have two choices:
(a) Spend a month figuring out how to do it within CCS.
(b) Write another task into your application, and use a GPIO pin (better
yet an interrupt pin if you can) to trigger the function.
I chose (b), and I suggest it if you can get to the hardware.
