The original question was about a 56303EVM, not a 56F803EVM... They are two very different DSPs. While the New Micros JTAG cable should work with the Suite56 tools for the 56300, the connector on it is totally different from the Motorola standard 14-pin JTAG cable. Motorola has published no documentation on the protocol for the parallel port command converter, but the JTAG/OnCE interface is documented in the DSP56300 Family Manual. Basically the OnCE port can read and write registers or memory and tell the DSP to execute instructions. All the debugger functions like windows of memory and the register window are built from reading the contents of all of those out a single word at a time with each upate. You might take a look at the flash_over_jtag utility for programming the 56F8xx devices for the very lowest level of JTAG/OnCE communication with the 56303, since the same command converter hardware is used for all of Motorola's current DSP families: http://e-www.motorola.com/collateral/FAQ-19703-FLASHJTAGEPS01SRC.zip --david --- In , Wim de Haan <w.d.haan@e...> wrote: > At http://www.newmicros.com/ <http://www.newmicros.com/> you can buy a > JTAG interface cable for programming DSP board utilizing Small C or > CodeWarrior for USD 25: > <http://www.newmicros.com/store/product_thumbnails/JTAG-Cable.jpg> > > Or if you want to sponsor Motorola, you can buy it at Motorola: > http://e-www.motorola.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_sum mary.jsp?code=DSPCOMMPARAL > LEL > <http://e-www.motorola.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_su mmary.jsp?code=DSPCOMMPARA > LLEL> > for USD 200 > > or try > http://e-www.motorola.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_s ummary.jsp?code=PP-JTAG > <http://e-www.motorola.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_su mmary.jsp?code=PP-JTAG> > which is perhaps not compatible with CodeWarrior and flash_over_jtag.exe > > Kind regards, > > Wim de Haan > Exendis B.V. > W.J. de Haan > P.O.box 56, 6710 BB Ede > Keesomstraat 4, 6716 AB Ede > The Netherlands. > Tel: +31-(0)318 - 676305 > Fax: +31-(0)318 - 676319 > mailto:w.d.haan@e... > URL: http://www.exendis.com <http://www.exendis.com/> > > -----Original Message----- > From: Graeme Fisher [mailto:gf@n...] > Sent: maandag 3 februari 2003 14:28 > To: > Subject: [motoroladsp] Re: JTAG hardware > > Hi, > > I would like to start using my JTAG connector on my EVM56303 board, but > am not sure what hardware I need to be able to do this.
