Tom-

Thanks Tom for the detailed explanation -- it seems you know this info cold.

RE: [c6x] DSK6711 schematics

Jeff,

Actually, there are a number of differences between the C6211 DSK and the C6711 DSK.  They are described to a certain extent in the TMS320 Crossplatform Daughtercard Specification (SPRA711).

The C6711 DSK has the following HW features:
1) 16MB SDRAM vs 4MB SDRAM
In fact, the C6711 design can support up to 64MB of SDRAM, using 256Mbit SDRAMs (See page 9 of schematics).  With a Revision Resistor change (page 10 of schematics) the existing SW utilities account for the larger SDRAMs.

2) 2 McBSP on J3 vs 1 McBSP.  This is done via a jumper JP1, which removes the McBSP to AD535 codec connection. (See page 15 of Schematics)

3) +/- 12V via J8 for Daughtercards (See page 13,16 of Schematics).

4) CE3 was moved from the Peripheral Connector (J3) to EMIF Connector (J1), although R159 (See page 13) is used to bring the signal CE3 back to J3 for C6211 compatible Daughtercards.

5) HOLD, HOLDA and BUSREQ signals were removed from the Daughtercard interface (J1).

6) HW Reset does not reset the Emulation Logic.  It resets the DSP and the Codec only.  (On the C6211 DSK it would also reset the ParallelPort controller-U10 and the TestBusController-U21 which would often cause CCS / Emulation problems)

Also, in the SW delivered with the C6711 DSK there was a flash programming utility to allow you to reprogram the on board FLASH.  This will work for the C6211 DSK as well.  Finally, with the user LEDS set to USER_SW1 and USER_SW3 up and USER_SW2 down the POST runs faster by not testing the entire SDRAM.

Tom Dillon

which processor is installed.

RE: [c6x] DSK6711 schematics

Flavio,

Jeff has sent you the C6211 DSK Schematics ... If you want the C6711 DSK schematics I have attached them to this email ... BTW, if you have the DSK installed you can find the file 6711dsk_schematics.pdf in the directory C:\ti\docs\pdf.  Also, as Rick suggested, you can get access to these schematics by going through the CCS Help mechanism.

Regards,
Tom Dillon

TI, in their infinite wisdom, put these drawings in the Help file. The
only way I know of getting them is to go into the DSK software and go
through the help. At 12:32 PM 10/17/02, F. Plos wrote:

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have the schematic sheets of the DSK6711 (or a part of them)?
Actually, I need to display the signals of the McBSP with an oscilloscope.
If someone send me them, I' ll be very grateful.
Thanks!
