Hi Khawar,
There is a procedure to enable the connection.
First Power on the USB JTAG Emulator, after a few seconds, connect the USB cable to the PC and the JTAG.
Connect the JTAG cable to the DM6446 Board. Then power on the board
Reset the Board by pressing the Processor Reset switch provided.
Then start the CCS in your PC.
Right click and connect device from ARM core.
You should be able to see that ARM will be halted after a couple of seconds
Then disconnect the ARM( right click, disconnect)
Then again Connect device from ARM.
Right click on ARM processor and open. CCS would open.
There would be some GEL file to make the DSP come up from ARM. You need to find one and load the GEL file from GEL Menu in CCS window
Then connect the device, DSP this time. After it gets connected, then you open the DSP, CCS window shows up again.
This should help you get going.

[c6x] JTAG connection problem using XDS560r and DM6446 | |

Dear Sir,
We have designed our custom board around TMS320DM6446 DSP+CPU and
have bought XDS560R USB emulator from Spectrum Digital, Alongwith TI
CCS3.3 (we bought CCS3.3 alongwith XDS560r from spetrum digital).
Follwing are our hardware jumper settings for our board:
COUT0 = 0
COUT1 = 1
COUT2 = 1
COUT3 = 1
YOUT[4:0] = 1111
JTAG EMU0 and EMU1 pins are connected with DSP EMU0 and EMU1 pins
through S5 switch.
And DSP TRSTn signal is connected with JTAG's TRSTn.
Following are the settings that we had selected using Setup CCStudio
v3.3:
Board: DM6446 SDXDS560R USB EMULATOR
Family: DM644X
Platform: SDXDS560R EMULATOR
Endianness: Little
On running CCS3.3 We get following Status:
NAME: DM6446_ICEPICK_ SDXDS560R
BOARD STATUS: OK
CONNECTION: SD SDXDS560R USB EMULATOR
Next we manually connect by right clicking and choosing "connect
device" to cennect to the dsp:
We get the following error when the board is connected with the
XDS560R emulator:
Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000244/-2131
Fatal Error during: Register, Initialization, OCS,
Cannot access register at 0x00000000
Sequence ID: 0
Error Code: -2131
Error Class: 0x80000244
Board Name: DM6446_ICEPICK_SDXDS560R
Cpu Name: IcePick
Abort: Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry: Try to connect to the target again.
Cancel: Remain disconnected from the target
Diagnostic: Run diagnostic utility.
We have a TMS320C6416 DSK. And XDS560R is working fine with it.
One more observation is as under:
When our custom DM6446 board is not connected with XDS560R then we
see following error message:
Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000240/-183
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,
This error was generated by TI's USCIF driver.
SC_ERR_CTL_CBL_BREAK_FAR <-183>
The controller has detected a far-away cable break.
The user must connect the cable to the target.
Sequence ID: 0
Error Code: -183
Error Class: 0x80000240
Board Name: DM6446_ICEPICK_SDXDS560R
Cpu Name: IcePick
Abort: Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry: Try to connect to the target again.
Cancel: Remain disconnected from the target
Diagnostic: Run diagnostic utility.
Please suggest what may have went wrong with our board or the
settings that are preventing us to connect with DSP and ARM.
Please also tell me that whether GEL files are necessary to connect
to the processor.
Right now i am using gel file of the dm6446 evm.
