Maybe... Try at http://www.ftdichip.com/ They manufacture the chips that do the job, and usually have links pointing to where/how to buy complete adapters. Good luck! JaaC

I posted a link to dealers who carry them. You might get an eBay bargain, but I would rather get one new that is listed for your operating system. They aren't very expensive in any case. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3463174429&category=41995 is cheap. Will it work for you? Better try http://www.google.com/search?q=USB+Serial instead. Well, guys, thanks for the info. I can see the logic now...if the

If my comment helps, and you also doubt that VDSP will "not see" the kit, because it's attached to a USB port instead of a COM port, don't worry. The USB-to-RS232 adaptor should install a virtual COM port in your laptop, which is the one you should set up in VDSP for comms to the kit. And for the kit side, don't worry either... it only will "see" the RS-232 "face" of the adaptor, it doesn't know the adaptor is actually attached to a USB port in the laptop. Am I being clear, Jerry? Is this the way your suggestion is supposed to work? Regards, JaaC

I don't think you understand. There are adapters that plug into the USB port your your computer -- PC or MAC -- and have a serial port to connect an external device. http://www.google.com/search?q=USB+Serial Jerry -- Engineering is the art of making what you want from things you can get. &#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;&#4294967295;

Thanks a lot Jerry, but I dont think I can make the ADSP board
understand that it should talk to the USB port and not the serial
port. Dont think there is a provision for that...

Hello All,

I have a Toshiba laptop without a serial port. But I need to connect
my ADSP 21061 EZKIT - Lite DSP board to it. I use it in conjunction
with Visual DSP++...So can anyone tell me if there is an alternate way
to connect the board to my laptop without the serial port?? Remember,
the only way to connect to the DSP board is an RS232 C connection...

I need to refresh my VDSP knowledge as I am trying to get a job in
Real Time DSP. Please help!
